The Itch! Bitch

For a while i’ve wanted to do a post of tracks that I like to zone out to. Basically these are my favourite tracks just now that you couldn’t really play in a nightclub, but they’re perfect for 8am on sunday morning.

First off, there simply aren’t enough compliments in the world to describe Max Cooper. The man has a Phd and holds down a day job as a genetics researcher for University College London. He can literally do no wrong. In his time off from being some kind of superhero/genius/doctor hybrid, Max Cooper has produced some of the best techno and electronica tracks of the last 12 months. Choosing a song to post was no easy task, though being a post on my favourite chill out tracks i had to go with his beautiful remix of Au Revoir Simone’s Take Me As I Am. The original is a really nice piano track in itself, though Max Cooper has transformed it into a piece of electronica perfection. Enjoy.

Should Have Taken Acid With You, a great track by psychedelic indie kings Neon Indian, has been given a once over by Chicago’s Future Rock. Trippy. Dreamy. Get it in your itunes you lucky thing you.

Prior to their move to Hyperdub, way back in 2007, Darkstar released the outstanding ‘Dead 2 Me/Break’ on the 2010 imprint. B-side Break is a great example of really dark, chilled out dubstep, it’s a really stunning track with layered synths and cleverly chopped up samples. If your in Glasgow on the 16th Feb, definitely make sure you catch their live performance in Nice n Sleazy.
